We will promote skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship in water polo, while fostering a healthy, safe, and fun team environment for all our team members.
Our coaching staff consists of experienced and certified water polo coaches dedicated to the development and success of our athletes. Coaches provide individualized instruction, feedback, and mentorship to help the players reach their full potential.
Coach Aileen Hamilton brings many years of coaching and waterpolo experience to the Humboldt Stingrays. Originally, a summer swimmer for the Sidney Piranhas on Vancouver Island, she started playing waterpolo to cross-train for summer swimming in her early teens. She has played waterpolo over the years for Saanich Waterpolo School, as an undergrad for the University of Victoria team and carried this through her post-secondary education playing for the MIT women’s team in Boston, Massachusetts and the University College Dublin team in Dublin, Ireland.
Teaching and coaching is also a lifelong passion, starting as a swimming and lifesaving instructor at Oak Bay Recreation, and Panorama Recreation Centre, coaching for the Sidney Piranhas swim team, training with NCCP coaching levels and now holding a faculty position at the University of Saskatchewan as a clinical instructor and site curriculum lead in the College of Medicine. She looks forward to every water polo practice and scrimmage and has enjoyed her time spent coaching the Humboldt Stingrays team!
Keniel’s love for the water began at an early age when he began swimming with his family. After many years he joined the Humboldt Hammerheads Speed Swim team as both a swimmer and a coach and has met with outstanding results. He joined the Stingray’s Water Polo team in their second year. He is looking forward to working with the team as an assistant coach and helping players to achieve goals and learn valuable life lessons.
Madison began swimming at the age of 7 with the Humboldt Hammerheads Swim Team. She was with the team for 10 years. In 2018 after graduating high school, Madison attended McGill University in Montreal. It was there that Madison was introduced to water polo and she joined the team. During her 5-year tenure, she was awarded Rookie of the Year, eventually making her way to team president. As a key player on the university's water polo team, Madison contributed to numerous victories, earning recognition for her skillful play and solid commitment to the sport.
In 2023, Madison returned home to the City of Humboldt where she decided to start up a water polo team, the Stingrays. Madison is passionate about water polo and is excited to see the sport continue to develop and grow!
