Program

The Humboldt Stingrays Water Polo program is for ages 5+.

Beginner Level

At the beginner level, players are introduced to the fundamental skills and rules of water polo.  The focus is on building basic swimming ability, understanding the game's structure, and developing techniques necessary for participating in a game.

Key Areas

Swimming Endurance, Treading Water, Basic Ball Handling, Introduction to Game Rules, Basic Defensive and Offensive Concepts, Developing Overall Fitness

Goals at the Beginner Level

Become Comfortable in the water and understand the basic rules of water polo.

Develop fundamental swimming and ball-handling skills.

Start practicing in simple, friendly games to apply the learned skills.


Intermediate Level

At the intermediate level, players build upon the foundational skills acquired at the beginner level.  The focus shifts to refining techniques, enhancing tactical awareness, and improving physical conditioning.  Players begin to engage in more structured gameplay and complex drills.

Speed and Agility, Advanced Treading, Precision Passing, Shooting Techniques, Offensive Plays, Defense Tactics, Position-Specific Skills, Power Plays, Conditioning and Strength Training

Goals at the Intermediate Level

Improve technical skills and tactical understanding of the game.

Develop the ability to perform under pressure in a more competitive game setting.

Increase physical conditioning to handle the demands of full-length matches.


Advanced Level

At the advanced level, player are highly skilled and experienced, with a deep understanding of the game.  The focue is on mastering complex strategies, honing position-specific techniques, and achieving peak physical conditioning.  Advanced players are expected to perform consistently at a high level in competitive environments.

Advanced Positioning, Explosive Speed, Precision Under Pressure, Specialized Shots, Advanced Offensive Strategies, High- Level Defense, Leadership and Communication, Reading the Game, Specialized Training, Endurance and Recovery

Goals at the Advanced Level

Achieve mastery in all technical and tactical aspects of the game.

Compete at the highest levels of the sport with consistency and excellence.

Contribute to the team's success through leadership, strategic thinking, and exceptional play.
